Charcoal making and drawing with charcoal

An exciting opportunity for children to learn to make charcoal and to use charcoal to draw in a woodland setting.

Two sessions are available, with approximate start times of 10am and 1pm. Please meet at the meeting area below the Peter Randall Page sculpture bench. The what3words location is ///keen.head.soils and there is a directions map below.
A three-hour workshop where children, aged 9-12 (or thereabouts) can learn how to make drawing charcoal from locally sourced twigs, using a firepit and tin cans.
Participants will then get to use similar charcoal to learn to draw trees they see around them in the woods.
The workshop will be run by local artist and member of the Arborealists' group, Kevin Tole (www.kevintole.com) He will be assisted by woodcraft expert and Ham Woods guardian, Dave Curno.
Children MUST be accompanied by an adult. Please bring suitable warm clothing and footwear and your own drinks and snacks. There are no toilet facilities are in the immediate vicinity.
Protective equipment will be provided.
Please book one ticket per child (accompanying adults do not need a ticket).
